Thank you :) I've never been asked something on blogger ...so I'll try my best to answer. I feel like I struggle with color myself quite a bit, but I will say that I do not use photo reference for color cues but more so for lighting ideas. When it comes to characters I play a lot to find what I want but I usually try 2 or 3 variations. As for full illustrations I always do a thumbnail to help me decide on what colors will work for a larger piece. For me, it can be daunting to think of color while trying to finish a piece so I try to get that out of the way in the beginning. Hopefully that gives you a general idea of how I tackle color :) Thanks for asking!
